Journal of Vampire Studies is the official journal of the Vampire Studies Association, a not-for-profit founded to stimulate, disseminate and publish vampire scholarship. In this debut issue, Kamil Stachowski considers vampire etymologies not covered in his sprawling essay; Kevin Dodd, in the first of a two-part article, highlights variations on the Lord Ruthven character in the nineteenth century; Gerard P. O'Sullivan examines Montague Summers' "philosophy of vampirism," while Niels K. Petersen questions Summers' relevance to vampire studies today.
