The Libertines are set to reform for a headline slot at the Reading and Leeds festival in August. The band, which centred around the songwriting partnership of Pete Doherty and Carl Barât, have not played together as the Libertines since 2004. A source told the Guardian that the group would be receiving a huge sum for their performance, rumoured to be around £1.5m.

Problémový rockový spevák a gitarista Pete Doherty sa vrátil po prvý raz na pódium od svojho pobytu vo väzení.
Spoza mreží, kde si odpykával trest za prechovávanie drog a porušenie podmienky, ho prepustili minulý týždeň.

Dvadsaťdeväťročný hudobník, ktorý chýbal pre svoj pobyt vo väzení na viacerých vystúpeniach, vystúpil so svojou skupinou Babyshambles v utorok v londýnskom Forum.

Frontman tejto úspešnej britskej pop-rockovej kapely ešte pred začiatkom poďakoval za listy, ktoré mu počas jeho pobytu vo väzení prišli.

Kontroverzný britský rocker Pete Doherty pripravuje vedno so svojím niekdajším kolegom zo skupiny The Libertines Carlom Baratom muzikál. Informuje o tom internetový portál BBC s odvolaním sa na hovorkyňu renomovanej divadelnej scény Donmar Warehouse v Londýne.

Pripravovaný projekt je ešte v rannom štádiu. V centre jeho príbehu by mala byť skupina a jej skúsenosti na ceste za slávou. Nevedno, či sa Pete Doherty, bývalý snúbenec topmodelky Kate Mossovej, ktorý má za sebou neľahké obdobie drogovej závislosti a celého radu deliktov, nechal v danom prípade inšpirovať vlastnými poznatkami.

Rocker totiž po rozpade skupiny The Libertines založil novú formáciu The Babyshambles, s ktorou nahral už dva úspešné albumy. Na mimoriadnom kredite divadelnej scény Donmar Warehouse má leví podiel niekdajší umelecký riaditeľ scény Sam Mendes, ktorý pôsobil v tejto funkcii v rokoch 1992-2002.

Pred odchodom do Hollywoodu, kde jeho film Americká krása premenil päť z ôsmich nominácií na Oscara v prestížne ocenenia, tu uviedli v jeho réžii inscenáciu The Blue Room s Nicole Kidmanovou v hlavnej úlohe.

Na tejto divadelnej scéne sa objavili v rôznych predstaveniach aj ďalšie hviezdy strieborného plátna, tak napríklad Gwyneth Paltrowová (Proof), Ian McKellen (The Cut), či Ewan McGregor v aktuálnej inscenácii Othella.

Legs 11

Recorded by: The Libertines

Legs 11 is a compilation of early demos. It was compiled by Carl Barât. The name 'Legs 11' was chosen by their former manager Banny Pootschi, as the cover featured the crossed legs of Darcey Bussell, the "most famous legs in England".

It was a 'swing' session, with Doherty feigning a Frank Sinatra-esque vocal style. Bassist John Hassall sings on "Sister Sister" in this session.

"Music When The Lights Go Out" features the former Libertines cellist Vicky. Parts of "Hooray for the 21st Century" later was incorporated into "Narcissist".

The drums in this session were not played by Gary Powell (the most prominent Libertines drummer), but by Paul Dufour who was planning an official release of these and other Libertines early sessions but was stopped in his tracks due to legal reasons.

Peta Dohertyho zatkli za prechovávanie drog

Britského rockového speváka Peta Dohertyho zatkli cez víkend pre podozrenie z prechovávania drog. Informoval o tom dnes denník The Sun.
Londýnska mestská polícia odmietla priamo oficiálne potvrdiť správu novín, ale vyhlásila, že v sobotu večer v Londýne zatkla 28-ročného muža pre podozrenie z prechovávania drog. Prepustili ho na kauciu, ale začne sa policajné vyšetrovanie a previnilec sa podľa príkazu musí vrátiť budúci mesiac na policajnú stanicu.

Doherty (28), líder skupiny Babyshambles a priateľ topmodelky Kate Mossovej, už podstúpil odvykaciu liečbu pod dozorom súdu, ktorý mu ju nariadil po sérii zatknutí za prechovávanie drog, ako je kokaín a heroín.

Na súde 18. apríla spevák vyhlásil, že ľudia v jeho blízkosti naňho naliehajú, aby sa zbavil svojej závislosti. "Ľudia okolo mňa už toho majú dosť. Vyhlásili, že buď oni, alebo drogy," uviedol Doherty.
